What you need

  • Glass Beakers

  • Thermometer

  • PH Strips

  • 100ml Glass Jar

Heated Stage

  • 40% Cocoa Butter

  • 20% Shea Butter

  • 8% Beeswax

Cool Down Stage

  • 20% Apricot Kernal Oil

  • 4 % Yarrow Pom

  • 1 % Vitamin E Oil (Antioxidant)

Step 1

Measure out your heated phase ingredients: Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Beeswax. In a separate glass beaker measure out your cool down phase ingredients.

Step 2

Combine your heated phase ingredients in a heatproof container and melt over low heat in a bain-marie or double boiler to 70 degrees Celcius. Once all the heated phase ingredients have melted give it a little mix to combine them and remove from the heat. Keep mixing and wait until the mixture has cooled down to 40 degrees celcius.

Step 3

Once cooled to 40 degrees, at this point, add in your cool down ingredients: Vitamin E oil and Yarrow Pom essential oil.

Step 4

Keep mixing thouroughly with a blender as the mixture cools down until a trace forms. Once a trace forms and you pour the mixture into a jar.

Step 5

Leave it to set either in the refrigerator or at room temperature for a minimum of 12 hours.

After 12 hours check the PH of your balm. It should be between 5-7.
