Addiction and Grapefruit oil

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

Do you have an addiction? Or many addictions? I know I do! Sometimes I think we don’t even know some of the things we are addicted because some of them are simply habits. Now I’m not so much talking about some serious addictions such as drugs or alcohol or even smoking etc. but more about passive addictions such as coffee, chocolate, shopping, T.V, exercise, sex, work, our smartphones. I think the list could be endless but I’ll stop there.

I know that I’m 100% guilty of consuming too much coffee and aimlessly scrolling my smartphone, so if you are too don’t worry you are not alone. On the other hand, I wish I was a little bit addicted to exercise.

What is an Addiction?

Addiction is an inability to stop consuming a substance or activity even though it can cause us physical or psychological harm. Symptoms of addiction can include irritation, fatigue, and an inability to stop doing that activity or consuming that substance.

How do Addictions start?

Addictions apparently start when we have some pain and we seek something that makes it feel better. So then we just start to do it more often and it then becomes an addiction.

How can Grapefruit oil help?

Addictions and grapefruit such a weird combination don’t you think? But I came across the recommendation in the aroma tools essential oils book and it is one of the top oils you can try to suppress addictive desires.

How?

Just diffuse in an aromatherapy diffuser Grapefruit oil to help calm and soothe withdrawal symptoms.

For smoking add Black pepper or Clove

For work add Lavender or Basil

For general withdrawal add Sandalwood

I did try it and I must say I think it does help when you inhale the grapefruit since it gives a feeling of satisfaction. It was strange but very cool!

EXTRA TIP! It also helps with hangovers.
